Not a roadmap of quarters and metrics — just a plain account of what we mean to do next: what's being made, who we're looking for, and what to expect on this site. The dates are intentions, not promises. The index on the right jumps to any of them.
BY SEPTEMBER 2026
THE PACT
An insignia, and a quiet pact.
Before September, we'll have a batch of WAGA insignia and printed keepsakes made — finished, in hand, ready to send. From September they go out to the people who got here first.
The WAGA insignia — gold enamel, engraved “Waga Co-op”.
Whoever takes part receives one: a carefully printed piece and a badge. There is nothing to sign. We'd sooner hold a gentlemen's agreement than a contract — kept by the object itself, not by paper.
To us, the first to receive them are the earliest force behind this, and the people who matter most. We hope that when one reaches your hands its weight is plain — that this is urgent, that it is meant seriously, and that it is worth giving yourself to in earnest.
THROUGH JUNE 2028
FOUNDING TEAM
Finding the rest of the crew.
Building a team is the long work. The founding crew runs until June 2028, when it settles into something definite; until then, every one of us is still a founder.
Five of us are already here. I'm Chu — WAGA's founder, and one of its directors, writers, storyboard artists, concept artists and producers. One, from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, holds the concept art — and paints some of the backgrounds. A backer stands behind the work. A producer, from the Academy of Arts & Design at Tsinghua University — warm, and a real communicator — helps us read the field and choose what to make. And one more, from the Communication University of China, handles part of our marketing, promotion and operations.
If you feel you can give something to this work, you're welcome — whatever your craft. Designer, animator, post-production, or anything else at all: if it speaks to you, come and stand alongside us.
The larger plan is two lead pilots, two to five minutes each. They will be how WAGA first shows its face.
First, a pilot for Which News (报忧社). Then one for Etched in the Stone (我们一定要青史留名), shorter — closer to two minutes.
Which News we intend to finish before June 2028. Etched in the Stone goes into production in 2029, its pilot arriving around 2030–31 and shown in 2031.
With those two pilots in hand — and everything we've already gathered — we'll read the situation and make some larger moves.
